SDU Wins the Sdy Prize

SDU’s Gender Equality Team has won a grant of DKK 22 million from the EU for a project to implement equality action plans at European universities. This award will support a project to improve human relations at SDU and across the European Union, as well as fostering a sense of community among women and men.

Researchers from the Maersk Mc-Kinney Moller Institute at SDU have won first prize in a competition at the international IROS conference. Their solution shows that flexible objects, such as wires, can be routed and adjusted by robots, opening up new industry uses for them.

The SDU team also recently won the prestigious ACS Ahmed Zewail Award in Ultrafast Science and Technology, an international prize that recognizes outstanding and creative contributions to fundamental discoveries or inventions in ultrafast science & technology. New SDU Research Leaders

A world-leading expert in economic history will move to SDU from the University of California, Davis next year, thanks to a grant of DKK 10 million from the Danish National Research Foundation. Gregory Clark is one of the world’s most prominent economic historians and will be leading a team of researchers in this field at SDU.

In another development, SDU’s Faculty of Business and Social Sciences has appointed Peter Mollgaard as its new Dean, a strategic leader with global experience. With his appointment, SDU will have a strategic leader who has an excellent understanding of the university as an institution and its goals.

He will be a mentor to students and will work closely with faculty in the Faculty of Science. He will also help to develop SDU’s research and education activities.

An exciting new research project at SDU involves growing green lettuce vertically. Four students from three engineering programmes at SDU’s Faculty of Engineering will now grow green lettuce in the company Hydrovertic, which is a spin-off from SDU’s Department of Food Technology.

The project aims to optimise lighting control in nurseries in relation to electricity prices, saving them up to 20 percent on their energy costs. The results are promising and could be a game-changer for many European nurseries.

Rifler Victor “sdy” Orudzhev Returns to Natus Vincere

After standing in for Kirill “Boombl4” Mikhaylov at the BLAST Premier Spring Finals, Ukraine’s Viktor “sdy” Orudzhev has returned to Natus Vincere for the IEM Cologne tournament. Orudzhev will be joined by symple, b1t and vakhovskiy on the team roster.

sdy has competed with Natus Vincere since 2015, but has remained relatively unknown outside of the Ukrainian and Russian communities. His presence at IEM Cologne will bring the Counter-Strike: Global Offensive team to a wider audience.
